Faith Formation
Faith Formation is one of the most important tenets of our Mission as Catholics and members of St. Anthony Parish and St. Martin Mission Church.
St. Anthony and St. Martin has active programs for children and adults interested in learning more about Catholicism, as well as returning Catholics.
Most of us have questions about the Catholic faith and our mission is to provide our parishioners and others with opportunities to find answers to those questions. Our hope is that we can meet you where you are in your faith journey, and to walk with you as you take your next steps.

Faith Formation at St. Anthony and St. Martin includes:
- Catholic Faith Formation (CFF) or
- Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD)
- Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC)
- Rite of Christian Initiation of Adult (RCIA) or
- Order of Christian Initiation of Adult (OCIA)
Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) was an association established in 1562 in Rome for the purpose of providing religious education. In its more modern usage, CCD is the religious teaching program of the Catholic Church. These classes are taught to school age children to learn the basic doctrines of their faith.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is the way that adults can become Catholic. Basically, RCIA is adult Confirmation. Every Catholic must go through some form of Confirmation. Most "Cradle Catholics" go through Confirmation after they reach the age of reason. Basically, the age of reason is the age at which you first become aware of the differences between right and wrong. The Actual age differs for everyone, and many argue when this actually happens. Either way, as an adult, we are way beyond that.
To understand what Catholic RCIA or OCIA is all about, it is important to understand Confirmation. Whether you are a teenager or grandmother of seven kids, Confirmation applies in the same way. It is the method by which we join the Catholic Church. As adults, the difference is that the classes are focused around us. Our questions may be different. Our ability to understand may be different. Our maturity is certainly different. For these reasons, and many others, the Church has a specific program to help us as we begin our journey in the Catholic faith.
